Shrine of the Turtle God – Environment Concept Study

This was a personal environment concept project I worked on to push my storytelling and explore how the same scene can be translated into different art styles. The goal was to design a cozy fantasy location with a bit of history behind it, centered around a small shrine overlooking a peach-filled valley.

I focused on composition, color harmony, and stylized foliage, especially how clouds, terrain, and landmarks can guide the viewer’s eye. The project includes two versions of the same environment: a soft, painterly fantasy style and a thin-line illustrated comic style, each emphasizing a different mood of the world.

This piece was a fun challenge and a good exercise in environment design, iteration, and working across styles!
